Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) Cyberknife

Floyd Slaski enjoys a challenge and they don’t come much bigger than installing a state of the art cyberknife together with 300 tonnes of lead shielding in the basement of a grade II listed Georgian property in Harley Street. Working closely with the users, suppliers, other consultants and Westminster Planning the practice was able to produce a scheme that blended contemporary design with eighteenth century style. This was the first operational cyberknife in the UK which meant significant research on our part before we could finalise the details.

In addition to the cyberknife itself the design also incorporates a single stage passenger lift, a large removable rooflight to permit removal of the cyberknife in the future, consulting rooms, offices, waiting area, WCs and nurses’ accommodation.
