Winnersh Community Library Woking

This community library, the first new public library to be built by Wokingham District Council, serves both the Forest School, on whose land it is sited, and the local community.

Involving extensive liaison with the Council’s Libraries and Lifelong Learning Department and members of the Forest School the finished building, which was built to a tight budget, features many innovative materials, provides full disabled access, underfloor heating to keep walls free for books, displays and computers and can easily be adapted for future IT and learning needs.

The site originally contained accommodation for heads of year and as part of the enabling works prior to demolition Floyd Slaski created six new offices within the existing school library.  Despite the complex nature of the works this did not cause the school to suffer any disruption.
